I was thinking today about how many great cooks are on here and how many of their "greatest ever" cooks get buried so quickly due to the high volume of traffic. Might be cool for all the newbs (hard to keep up with so many coming in around father's day, 4th of July, Christmas etc) to have a quick resource to show what their new egg is capable of or for someone like me looking to stretch their boundaries and try something new from time to time. We are really looking for "Quality over quantity" on here so please put some thought in to it. This thread belongs to all of us but I would suggest no fatties, pig shots, ABT's, butts, briskets...you know, the stuff you can find anywhere and has been done to death. Let's all put our best foot forward and create a single thread that shows the depth of experience on this site.
Who's in??????
I nominate Hapster's Octopus and Flanken rib cook from today as entry one.

So many excellent cooks to choose from, I don't know where to begin... A true conundrum!!Large, small and mini now Egging in Rowlett Tx

And those are just yours!!!!!!I think it would be great to have like a "greatest hits" thread. I'm sure it will fall apart but if we can get enough on here, I think it would be cool.I guess this is what all the old bands do when they are out of ideas )I would love to have it as a resource though.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

WE should extend an invitation to "those who's shoulders we stand on" from the other forum as well.

I think it might be a good idea to do this on a yearly basis - what was your best cook last year? Everybody can only post one recipe a year."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
-
Great idea! (if you are being serious- hard to tell with you sometimes). Lots of experience and great eggers over there. Would be great to have all that knowledge in one place.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

Quite a few of @Dyal_SC 's cooks should definitely be on the listGreensboro, NC

I'd say guidance from this forum has raised my cooking to another level. From tfj and artisan bread tips to Centex and cazzy walking me threw several brisket cooks. My faux coshon de lait is always a huge winner. My paella with crawfish, scallops and clams is great. This forum has helped me in so many ways. This forum ROCKS.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. @Cen-TexSmoker Maybe the easiest way may be to start a thread " Best of Best" or whatever you deem it to be and as people are posting pics of their cooks they are told to post under the certain thread by whomever. It can be the "idea guy" , CT, Henapple or Hapster. That part doesn't really matter but there has to be some kind of direction. Not to say that JoJo Butternuts first spatchcocked chicken isn't cool and do I think those post are cool and needed but the best of the best to show off what the egg can do and do good. Just think out loud.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

I agree-maybe the OP should be nominated and seconded in that thread and then moved to the BOTB?Jut like we did with Hapsters. That way, jojobutternuts isn't posting willy nilly.Thoughts?Would be kind of cool to have your peers nominate you to the wall of fame for a great cook.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I guess we would need to go bump some of the home run cooks from the past back up for nomination. Maybe you can't niminate yourself. if someone has seen one of your cooks that they find extraordinary, they can bump it up?Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX
-
That sounds real good. So each poster will post their cook as normal, be it out of the ordinary or off the charts, in the same thread anyone can nominate it to be posted in the "BOTB" The OP is responsible for posting their cook in the "BOTB" thread Do we need a "2nd"?-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Is boiled brisket ruled out?"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Love it Matt. I don't care if we have 2nd or not. Might keep some of the Cliqueish Canadians from just nominating their stuff over and over.................Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I didn't know this forum was competitive. I thought it was just a bunch of folks showing their attempts for the group. No way I'll post my measly cooks now.-----------------------------------------------------Albuquerque, NMLarge BGE, Weber Kettle, Weber Smokey Joe

Was just talking about this on another post. A humble meal and one of our favorites. Teriyaki hot smoked turkey thighs.
