BIG GREEN EGG INTRODUCES NEW MINI-MAX PORTABLE GRILL AT HPB EXPO IN SALT LAKE CITY
When you open the Mini-Max, it has the same cooking area as the Small Big Green Egg, 13 inches in diameter. But what is noticeably different is that the bottom fire grate on the Mini-Max measures 10.5 inches across. In comparison, the bottom fire grate on the Small Big Green Egg measures in about half that size at 5.5 inches. This means more air flow for the Mini-Max and more control over what you are cooking. The Mini-Max sits under 20 inches tall but seems to have an impressive amount of surface area for its size.
Here it sits on the Left beside a Large and a Mini. If I could only take that hat trick of eggs home from the show…

I wonder if it will fit in the small eggcarten, and how much it will weigh?Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Perfect. This solves my problem of deciding between a small and mini. Wanted the size of the mini, but the cooking grid of the small. Definitely getting one of these if the price is right.

Whoa guys! Look at the fire ring. How much lump (by volume)can you get in there? Can it sit on a flat surface? Looks like it has the same lower vent as the small. Love that table though

Seems like the perfect college football tailgating grill... Oh the possibilities...

Throw the small woo in that thing and its a cooking machine. My only worry is it looks like its just like the mini with not much space for ash to collect before it starts messing with air flow. The mini has like an inchanf a half between th ebottom of th eegg and the bottom of th efire grate.

@Lit I was going this weekend to go buy a kamado Jr. Guess ill wait now.LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

I am going to keep the KJ Jr and maybe sacrifice the vision mini to CL once this comes out and hope as long as th enumbers don't change it won't be noticed. Another member here found a great deal on the KJ Jr they had a mistake on a coupon code that was 10% off with free shipping but th ecode was giving 20% off so I got the KJ for $359 delivered to my house through a registered dealer. The code is fixed today its $404 now with free shipping.

I won't get a KJ because they lied to me. I'll be
all over this thing to go with the mini as long as there is enough separation with the medium, price-wise. -
Is it just a shortened small? Perfect buy for someone deciding between small and mini. Probably doesn't make much sense for owners of both small and mini though"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

When has an egg purchase had to make sense in the past? I'm in for one and I have a small and a mini. I have to hoard my toys before I have one or 2 of those little things running around and I have to buy toys for them.

is this available at the GA MTN Egg Fest
Atlanta, GA and Watts Bar Lake, TN

The press release says it will be available in June. Looks like they mean business, and I can't wait to fire one up!Chris

Dang! Where was that last year? I love the cooking space on my small, but more more portability would be nice. It looks like the best of both worlds.
Someone at the mother ship must have been paying attention to all of those mini vs. small topics. Over time, that thing just might phase out both the regular mini and the small.

@Lit
I have the small and mini too. Maybe not so much "sense" as it is justifying the purchase of something I already have but taller. Will be interesting to see the price difference between the small and MiniMax"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon.
