Nice. I was close to the Explorer but we decided on the Flex for the extra space with 2 young'uns.

Yeah, the wifey didn't dig the box shape of the Flex. I tried to sell her on the more room but failed. She loves her Explorer and I'm honestly pretty jealous of all the technology her ride has. My car instantly became boring after 1 trip in it.

After number 2 arrived, I said "eff you, manhood... Let's get a minivan" because I was killing my back with 2 car seats going into a Rav4. She poo-poo'ed that. We settled on the Flex, manhood intact. Next up is trading my A3 for an Allroad/A4 Avant once Audi puts a diesel into it.

I told her I get the cool car next time so I'm finally going to get the Beamer I've always wanted. :D

I've had three Explorers at once......love them.

I can put 4 kids in car seats in my personal 2010 Eddie Bauer.

I can put 35 bags of charcoal inside the company's 2006 Eddie Bauer V8, and tow two pallets inside the enclosed trailer.

I will not be buying the new body style--too small, no V8.  Will have to go to the Expedition now  BTW, used to have a RAV4 V6 Limited.......loved that thing, but could only put two car seats in it.  Great gas mileage and fast.

@stlcharcoal‌, the ecoboost is awesome. Wait... It FREAKIN' ROCKS! I tried it in the Flex on a test drive and it hauled ass. Don't discount the Explorer unless you really need the space.

@cazzy, my other option is the 335d wagon. V6 diesel goes weeeeeeeeeee!

    Looking at Expedition EL's.  :((

If the Excursion ever came back, I would buy one in a heartbeat.  Those things draw some crazy money on Craigslist.  There are people replacing the V10's with 3-cylinder diesel Cats.  Drivetrain lasts forever, but the interiors are wearing out.

Yup. The only ones I ever see are diesels. There is a local company that soups them up. I know of 3 or 4 guys with f350s or excursions that are all kinds of obnoxious. Stacks and all.

@cazzy, just food for thought, there's a possible water leak on these explorers to watch for, it is in the factory seam sealer in both upper corners of the decklid opening, (the rear corners of the roof skin (just under the rear luggage rack mounts) it seems to only affect some and others are ok. I've fixed two already, both said the ford dealer knew nothing of the issue.-- not knocking your car, I drive a new f150 too, just want you to be aware of it.
If the pic loads it's between the hinge, the roof rack, and the strut. image

Yr welcome, and I'm sure they've fixed the issue by now, so I wouldn't loose much sleep over it. :)

At the Egg fest, do you take your own Egg? Excuse my ignorance on this subject.  I am a little jelly and would love to attend one of these sometime.
    Thanks,

You don't need to bring your own egg.  You can either sign up as a cook, or a taster.  If you are a cook they provide you with eggs to cook on, then those eggs are sold as demos.   As a taster, you just show up and walk around and eat.

This one is in North GA in May:

Looks like there was one in 2010, 2012 in Winston-Salem.  Maybe you are in luck and it is every 2 years!

  • I had the same leak in my 2013 explorer sport. The pep of the ecoboost however enabled me to forgive the folks at ford. That thing flies!
