CI Skillet size for a MBGE?
Helmet
Posts: 163
Hey, I have decided it's time to get a CI skillet for my MBGE for reverse sears, I'm planning on getting one with a handle and then cutting it off - just looking for suggestions on what size you folks would recommend for a MBGE.

probably nothing larger than a 12 inch to allow plenty of airflow around it.

You might consider a bail handled griddle..I just got a 12" Wagner that missing the bail handle off eBay for my Small. It was considerably cheaper than a skillet.

Bought a 12 inch Lodge CI and clipped the handle off with my grinder and smoothed the edges. Cured it and good to go!In the middle of Georgia! Geaux Tigers!!!!!

I only have a MBGE. 12" may work with a clipped handle, depends on what you are doing. Have two 10" skillets, both fit very well and the handle makes for easy one hand moving around. I'd try a 10" and if it seems to small for what you are cooking, pick up a 12" or a 14" and remove the handles.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Thanks @Skiddymarker - I'm really just going to be using it for searing steaks, does that help?Medium BGE, Weber Q120 (The traveller)"I claim artistic license, it has a good beat, I can dance to it"

@Helmet, When reverse searing steaks, I use either the CI grid on the fire ring or a CI pan on a gasser side burner. I can't get a pan sear in the egg to work the way I like it but find the gasser works much better. I'm sure whatever you get will be fine.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!
