Fat seepage? Never seen this before

So last night I was reverse searing some steaks and I noticed a pool of liquid seeping through the bottom of my egg. It turned out to be a whole lot of liquid fat. The egg doesn't have any cracks near as I can tell. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned? I had planned on doing a couple briskets this weekend.

Sorry, no help here but am eager to know what could cause such a phenomenon.Marietta, East Cobb, GA

Yes crazy....might be time to cook some white meat? Is it a sign?

That's an awful lot of grease to be seeping through the ceramic...I really suspect you've got one or more cracks somewhere. The Lodge sportsman's grill does that...but that's because the bottom is bolted on.

@fishlessman - where is your "ugly egg"?Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Bump - so what is the thought on me continuing to use it?

As stated above....a clean burn will help do a couple things.... clean it. It will also get it hotter and maybe you will find that leak once it gets super hot. Def the first thing i would do.Beaufort, SC

Do you use drip pans under your meats while cooking? As a first step, I would take the guts out of the egg and give it a good cleaning by hand.Dave - Austin, TX
