Open vents wide open. Leave daisy wheel half open. Or are you saying vents open?

Put the smoker with pellets in the oven at 275 for 30 minutes. Let it burn for a while, at least 15 minutes. Open bottom vent completely with no daisy wheel.

  • Let them burn for a bit.

  • How are you lighting them?  You should use a propane torch.

  • I use a mapp torch to light mine. Loaded the amaze up and smoked a slab of bacon for 12 hours with maple yesterday. Mine always stays lit never goes out.

What elevation are you at?  The regular smoker does not work well at higher elevations.

A northern Colorado Egghead since 2012!

    XL and a Small BGE.

  • when I use my a-maze-n-smoker I take all the guts out of my Egg I open the bottom vent wide open and I have a staniless steel smoke wear cap that I open up wide then I light the pellets and let them burn burn for about 10 mins then blow it out and put into the egg on the bottom then I put the grill in the egg and whatever I'm smoking goes in and let it go all night until it burns out and every time  in the morning all I have left is just ash in the A-Maze-N Smoker

  • +1 on the map torch...and i leave the touch on the pellets for about 30 seconds. I also light mine in my wood burning fireplace and let it go for 10-15 min before moving it to the egg.

  • Thanks to all that chimed in to help w/this problem.will give it another go today . I have noticed that when the temperature is above + 25 degrees it seems to work better, lately we've been -10 to - 15 at night to about 0 to + 10 during the day
