As I type this, we still have power in our little hood, as does the Wegman's about 3 miles away... knocking on wood it stays that way.
With today's ice storm; almost 85% of Chester County is without power and there are so many trees down and roads blocked. Very fortunate to have the egg and the ability to cook without worrying about power. Trying to decide now between a boneless pork loin raised direct, or sausage and peppers...
I hope that everyone in the storms path is okay and wishing all of the utility workers a safe and speedy couple of days...

Over here in Lancaster county there were about 48,000 without power this morning and about 32,000 still without power now. Our power stayed on but kept flickering off for a few seconds. We did lose cable and internet this morning but it just came back on.
I also feel we were very fortunate.

hate loosing power up here, house freezes up then the pipes break. i now understand the problems down there, carolina plates cut me of on the onramp earlier today, roads icy with greasy snow, she is swerving with front wheel drive and sliding all over the place everytime she gives the car gas. i dropped way back and she was eventually off the road. guy behind me jumps out and starts pushing her car and shes going again and now on the highway, speeds reduced to 45mph today. she should have stayed there and got a tow cause there is no way she should be on the highway todayfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Decided that the pork and sausage just wasn't hitting the right note this evening. Dug around in the freezer and found some London broil and chicken breast leftovers. This will leave my egg snoozing snugly for the evening. First time in almost 2 years that I've used the cover. Threw it on last night before the ice came...

Not trying to make light of the ice storm, just sayin.'

Kept power here in Camp Hill as well. After a bunch of snow, turned to heavy rain, then ice. Ended up with a 3-4 inch layer of solid ice on all the sidewalks and driveway. Had to break it up before attempting to shovel it. Snowblower was worthless. Egg looks pretty frozen shut. Will have to unfreeze it before cooking dinner.

My power went out at 0700 and just came back on. I've been at my parents cleaning up branches that landed on his truck and almost hit the house.

Lost power here in Delco at 605 this morning. Just got it back now at 1015 pm. They say over 600,000 customers are without power and it could take through the weekend to restore everyone so I feel fortunate! Does anyone have a backup generator and does anyone know how much they cost?LBGE; Adjustable Rig

Living in the hurricane zone, I am pretty familiar with generators. Small portable generators to run the basics are 600-1000 dollars. Something built in to run the whole house with automated cutover will run you 5k and up. Remember all generators require a certain amount of regular maintenance.NOLA

Thanks guys...
Little something for the cook while everyone settles down for the night. Going old school on the egg... No maverick or temp control other than my vent settings. Been a steady 260 for at least the last two hours even with the wind picking up. Going to say goodnight soon and wait in see in the morning...

Stay safe Hap and hope the power stays on. My parents and my wife's Mom haven't been in the same room since my Mother-in-laws 60th birthday 4 years ago and I'm going to do my best to keep it that way. At least Elise is enjoying the family time. I'd wish you good luck with the cook but I know it's in good hands.I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

Here in Bethlehem all was well. I got a generator when that hurricane Sandy came through - lost power for 24 hours then - and it has been used 3 times since then. Last time was 2 weeks ago - lost power for 8 hours on a 10 degree night. After estimates for restoration got pushed out twice, I cranked it up, plugged in TV, internet - which I have power backup for - and pellet stove. A couple of lamps and cords to laptops. Ran that till 0200 when power came back. Love that thing. My egg down on a courtyard and so I have not fired it up in months. I am not a gold weather person and have used the gasser on the deck a couple of times. In a normal winter I would have used the Egg. This one - it has been covered and safe since November. Going to Fla next week and I may have to buy a demo at the Florida Eggfest in Melbourne.for the house there - may look at one of those Vision grills but... we'll see about that.
