Egg is a mess

PSA of the day.
Went and looked inside my egg that I have not used in over a month. Nasty. Last cook was chicken wrapped in bacon. Grease dripping all over and left over lump looks like something from a sci-if movie. Sides of the egg have encrusted grease drippings now. The grate is disgusting.
Note - if planning not use he egg for a while clean it out thoroughly first.
Looking at another month or so until I can try and use it again. I should have done a clean burn a while back.

I just did a clean burn after I finished some ribs. It was getting quite a bit of buildup all over it. I do lots of greasy cooks and it has caught up to me. I am a little concerned about clean burns in cold temps and the potential of cracking. It is about 25 degrees here so I kept mine about 650. I am hoping that is hot enough to clean it out good but not so hot that the contrast causes any cracks.

Well had a hour so I grabbed a Arturo Fuente Hemmingway and loaded the egg with lump. Just pinned the thermo and the egg is sweating like crazy.

Light it and let it get to about 500 or so, let it burn for a few hours and then shut it down... take care of all of important mess. Anything left is just seasoning

Hapster I don't know how you stay outside in the cold and enjoy your sticks. Hands are numb and it's not as cold as it's been.

I enjoy my sticks but I'm a warm weather smoker. Fortunately, Cigars International in a Hamburg is only a 40 minute drive so I can enjoy an occasional cigar in the warmth of a building. Just burned 2 there on Friday night.Mark Annville, PA
