Spent a few hours every evening last week sanding, staining and putting on a few coats of polyurethane to my table. Found a beautiful piece of polished granite at local shop and they gladly donated to the cause!! Starting off with chicken legs for dinner tomorrow and HUGE filet mignons for me and the Mrs. tonight. Had some trouble getting the temps up but I pulled the PS and did a quick sear on the chicken and it seemed to be burning great. Going to crank it up to 550-600 for the steaks later tonight.

LOL..yeah...wifey is hooking up a personalized bottle opener for birthday next month....things turned out pretty great with the cooks..I'm highly anticipating tearing into those chicken legs tonight and the steaks were incredible...was somewhat chasing temps on the steaks to no fault but my own due to the Daisy Wheel closing when I opened the hood a few times and it took me a bit to realize it so the temp would go down and then I would realize what I did and get it back hot again. Foiled up some potatoes mixed with a ranch seasoning and put them on for about 20mins..perfect. Think I'm going to give a pork butt a try this upcoming weekend...turbo style as I don't have 12-15hrs to put into it.

Awesome looking table. Great work! Those fillets are insane!Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Beautiful table and nice score on the granite! You may want to consider creating a space between the egg bottom and the paver, see my comment in this post:canuckland

I've read about putting a space between the egg and paver...so question, I started with a concrete paver, but switched to a brick b/c the concrete was absorbing water if left uncovered in the rain and after only 3-4 weeks of being rained on 2-3 times, there was already discoloration under the paver when I lifted it after removing the egg. So what I did was get these large blocks of felt tape and they are stuck to the bottom of the brick paver so it wouldn't scratch the table and it does create a small gap between the paver and table. I touched the paver yesterday after a couple hours of the egg burning and the brick was cold so I'm thinking I shouldn't have any issues. My egg didn't come with the "feet" and the rep said they aren't coming with them anymore. Thoughts on doing this???....I got the idea when I put felt tape on the bottom of that piece of granite so I could slide it around without scratching the wood and figured doing the same to the paver would be helpful as well.
