Soooo I just pulled my first turkey off the egg and it smells amazing. I began carving it and notice this little bad filled with goo inside the bird. Can I have everyone's opinion on whether the turkey will be harmful to eat since I managed to cook it with the surprise bag inside? (I realize now this bag is normal. I'm just bush league).

I think the bag is just the giblets, heart, and what not. You should be fine.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Thanks for the reply. I was more concerned about chemicals from the plastic I smoked. Bag didn't melt so I think it's fine. My wife wanted me to ask the opinion of the egg heads.

This happens all the time so I highly doubt they would put anything in the bird that was harmful...whether they intend for it to be cooked or not.Royal Coachmen said:Thanks for the reply. Lol. A few years ago I deep fried a turkey with the bag still inside. It survived intact, and no one knew but me. I my defense I was drinking pretty heavily that day. Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Bird was good and she was satisfied with the valuable response from the forum. ;-)
I'm not a huge fan of turkey but smoked it ain't too bad.
