Gasket Replacement

Been going a while without much of a gasket left. Ready to replace it. I have scraped the old gasket off but there is still a lot of black. I tried to use acetone but it pretty much evaporated with no effect. Does all of the black have to come off to put on the new one?

I would try to get as much off as I could before I put another gasket on. Go to the naked whiz website and look at replacing gaskets. It talks about replacing the gasket with a Rutland, but the prepping part you can use for you. http://www.nakedwhiz.com/rutlandgasket/gasket.htm

Get with Ron/ RRP for Rutland gasket. IMHO he is the go to guy on this with valuable information so you only have to do it once.

+1 I also got my gasket from @RRP. Thank goodness I got with that Rutland before wasting my money on other gaskets.

I received my gasket from Ron this past week. Received a very professional package within days of my request. Thanks Ron Today I put it on following the included detailed instructions, and utilized the tools called out. Gasket off and cleaned up in about 30 minutes. Gasket on in about 20. Egg is curing as I type. Thanks again, Ron. Very much well worth it to contact him.

@matthethamm - you will notice a difference in the way your egg gets up in temp and holds the heat with the Rutland. I love it. I'm glad I made the switch!
