Small sips for me. Room temp. Little ice if it's super octane barrel strength (120 proof and up).

Depends. Often, one of these:
Apparently they were the #1 thing on Amazon this Christmas

Not a mention of Eagle Rare 17? If I'm in the mood for a sipper, this is my go to.

Was down in Houston for wedding just before Christmas. Nephew had previously mentioned TX Whiskey and how much they liked it. First stop after checking into hotel was store to pick some up. Most of the male family members sat around the hotel lobby after the rehearsal drinking the TX and playing cards. Good stuff, but not available outside of the region.
Sitting here right now with a Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey neat. Even better. From a very small Denver distillery from a trip in early December. Lots of good choices out there, try them all and find your favorites. Do not overlook the new local distilleries opening up.

I like Knob Creek. Bookers too. But I already said what I prefer.
Point of face. TX Whisky from Ft Worth TX - Firestone and Robertson distillery isn't bourbon. Those barrels are going to be bottled this year. I will very much like to taste that when they hit the market.LBGE and Primo XL Plano TX All right all right alllll riight -
Under $20, Bulleit is a great value. Prichards is pretty good on the higher end."America has only three cities: New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland." -Tennessee Williams

For 2012, Larceny will be available in the 1.75 liter, 1 liter, 750ml and 50ml sizes in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. At an average national retail price of $24.99 for the 750ml size, Larceny is a true small batch Bourbon produced from dumps of 100 or fewer barrels that have been selected from the 4th, 5th and 6th floors of Heaven Hill’s open rick warehouses in Nelson County, Kentucky. Larceny is drawn from barrels that have aged from 6 to 12 years at this high storage, and is bottled at a full-bodied 92 proof, or 46% alcohol by volume.

Woodford for me. Knob Creek also good. @bicktrav - Regarding Pappy Van Winkle, just had a good friend enter a drawing at a local bottle shop for chance to buy the only bottle they had received, price tag of $70. Luckily guy now has an unopened bottle on the shelf. Trying to get over to his house to sample.

The tovolo sphere ice trays are cool but I prefer the large square trays so you can make 6 at a time. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00395FHRO/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1389232986&sr=8-2&pi=SL75 as for whiskey I like just about everything mentioned above. One I like that I don't think I saw posted is dimple but its a little over the $40 mark. Buffalo trace is gonna be hard to beat for the price though. Eagle rare is a good mid $20 bottle.

A buddy of mine joined the makers mark club or whatever they call it and a couple years ago they sent him some makers mark sphere ice cube makers like the tovolo. They are pretty cool.

Weller is excellent with Diet Sierra Mist. I go through 3-4 handles of Weller a year. That being said, under 20: Old Grandad Bottled in Bond. Under 30: tie between Basil Hayden's, Evan Williams Single Barrel and Eagle Rare 10. Under 40: Breaking and Entering (sourced blend from California). Under 50: Jefferson's Very Old Very Small Batch. Under 60: Van Winkle Lot B. Lot B is the best I've ever had. Better than Pappy's.

My recent favorite is under $30 - Ole Grand Dad 114 proof. Smooth!I'm also required (not really...) to promote Knob Creek Bourbon since they are the reason I even have a BGE. (I won a Facebook contest in which they were giving away 30 small BGEs. I sold the small and bought a large - of course!)Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

@drummerben - Very cool! You should definitely give it a try. Post here and let us know what you think. Like I said, it's probably not worth the money it goes for these days (not sure any whiskey is), but no question it's a damn good bourbon!Southern California

It's incredible. But it's really a Cuban Cigar. Because you can't have it, you want it. Try Four Roses limited edition small batch or single barrel. Eagle Rare 17. Heck, grab Weller 12 or Elmer T Lee Single Barrel. Unless you have that discerning of a palate, once you get to those whiskeys over 40, most are going to be phenomenal. I have unopened bottles of Pappy 15, William Larue Weller, Lot B and the FourRoses. Just waiting for the right gathering of friends to open one up.
