My wife just got home and said, "I did something really stupid".  She's holding two black boxes with a 'uh oh yeah ummm' look on her face.  I said "no babe, you didn't do that did you".  "You know I buy the meat...what did they get you for."  "$39 for all of these steaks" she says.

So  I open the 1st box and they are 1/3-1/2" frozen strips with zero marbling.

image

The second box has 1/3-1/2" rib-eyes with decent marbling.

image

In the end, I'm cracking up cause the pain on her face is hilarious.  At least I know she'll never ever buy meat again.

I know the feeling. SWMBO cooked pork chops tonight (not on the egg) and they were dry as all get out. Now, she is normally a really great cook, but... well.

What's so funny? They sell the best stuff. Sure, you can go to the market and pay through the nose for meat that was actually inspected, but it won't be pre-tenderized by the jockey's whip.

Skiddymarker recommended chicken fried steak with the pounded strip steak. Mighty fine eats and MDSH new favorite food. ;;)

This is the exact reason why SWMBO is only allowed to buy meat if I'm stuck somewhere and my "guy" is at the store.  Otherwise she won't buy anything but hot dogs, brats, and hamburger. The ribeyes look decent. The strips could be used for cheese steaks or something similar.

Trim them of all the fat, slice them up thin, cook them up. Find a good chewy roll, add the cheese of your choice (American, Smoked Provolone, Whiz) add fried onions (Wit) or not (Witout) and do a Philly Cheesesteak.

Yeah but they came with free AA batteries!  When those guys come around I tell them I'm a vegetarian, stops them dead in their tracks every time. The first time the wife heard me tell them this she almost blew a gasket trying not to laugh.

    Cazzy, forget all other suggestions.

Play "Strip" poker with them, cook the ribeyes another day. For every lost hand you get to beat each other with the meat. By the time you're finished, the meat will be well tenderized. Hot and fast cook. BOOM!
