Rockwood

Picked up 11 bags of Rockwood a while back and while a bunch of ya'll have used it. ..I thought I'd kick in my early opinion. I've only used 2 bags. My first impression is that it starts easy and burns clean really, really quick. I did a low and slow pork shoulder last night and it performed well. Held at 210 for 20 hrs and I used very little. I filled the box to the top of the ring and still had plenty. Hope the pic shows the results. As some of you know I'm an Ozark Oak fan. Rockwood is different but I'll use it when I can get it. So far I'm extremely happy with it.

It's smaller than Ozark Oak but still gets it done greatly. Really good stuff.

Sounds like a hell of a plan. They probably wouldn't like it when I strolled through the door with 5 kids.

I work on weekends and keep the kids during the week while the wife works.

If you are ever headed down 65 and close I'd be happy to buy you a drink. Cullman did finally go wet.

Rockwood rocks. Just finished a batch of Canadian Bacon with it and apple wood chunks. It does seem to burn hot and that's fine since the DigiQ controlled it to 210F.

I organized a group buy in Houston. I think ceramic grill store in the Dallas area stocks it.

There seem to be a lot of Ace Hardware stores that carry it. I'm sure Rockwood lists dealers on their site, or stick around and wait a few minutes.....our wonderful Rockwood rep will line you up!

Great having him on here, and he's (she's?) a hell of a salesman....errrr...salesperson!

@GQuiz - Tom (tjv) is the owner of Ceramic Grill Store in Denton. You could probably pm or call him to confirm. He also makes the adjustable rig and other eggcessories.

  • I ordered one bag from firecraft to get to the free shipping.  I was so impressed, much better than RO.  The RO I get seems to take 45 mins for the VOC's to burn off.  The Rockwood was ready to go in 15 mins.  First overnighter went to bed when when egg was 225, woke up to the same 225 and had a bunch left over after the 15 hr cook.  Really wish it was available locally.
