Sunday Football Cook...

Think I'm ready for my football cook tomorrow. We have some friends coming over for the Eagles vs Dallas game tomorrow night. Planning on doing wings followed by pizzas. Picked up 3 bags of Rockwood yesterday from Firecraft and then went to Shady Maple this morning to get some of their thin 12" pizza crusts. Also picked up a special on some thick rib eyes that were on sale for $3.99/lb. I got 6 of the steaks and food saved them when I got home and popped them in the freezer.
Hoping the rain clears out in time for the cooking. Planning on doing the wings first, probably be 3 batches and then keeping them warm in the oven. The pizzas will be started before they get here and just going to build and bake as needed.

A proud daddy moment... Elise was all into trying mud bugs with me. She loved them and can't wait till next time. I only got about a pound just to give them a try, they were cooked and we ate them cold...

I've been a fan through the good times of Staubach and Aikman and through the bad times of many other quarterbacks (White - although he was a good but not great QB, Hogeboom, Pelleur, Carter, Testaverde, Bledsoe and now Romo). The one constant over the past 13 years of playoff failures has been Jerry Jones as a GM. The Cowboys, sadly, will never win until Jerry Jones dies. This will be a challenge of a cook today... The rain is pouring down. Once I get her lit and stable, I'm going to start the wings raised direct...
My question... when I switch to the pizza set up, PS with grate and then the stone on the Woo Extender, should I be worried about putting the wet PS & stone in the egg to warm up for pizza?

Anyway... Barring any other ideas on here; I put the PS and pizza stone in oven at 225 to slowly dry out and warm up a bit

That will definitely help, do you have a rain cover so opening egg doesn't get soaked

Hap, that is too cool with Elise eating mud bugs. That would definitely make her a keeper in my book!! I love sum bugs but my wife and daughter give me total hell. Here is latest off the egg... Doing them at a dome temp of about 400 and the pizzas are taking about 10min finishing nice and crispy.

I rub them with Bad Byron's and do them raised direct at about 375 flipping them after about 45 min till they're nice and crispy... pretty easy to do, just have to pay attention so they don't burn.Kruegs said:Looks fantastic. I've never done wings on the BGE...any tips?
