Looking for Meat Grinder and sausage stuffer...

Lem 5 lb stuffer no bigger and a Northern Tool meat grinder. Start reading about sausage making. You will end up with more stuff that you will need.That's why they call it a hobby

I have a cabelas grinder with a stuffer attachment and HIGHLY recommend it. But they a costly. To do it on the cheep look for a warning pro grinder. It will come with sausage stuffing tubes and runs around $100. Bed bath and beyond did sell them and you could use a 20% coupon. Also a quick search of the Internet and you may find a refurbished one for about half the cost. My brother had one of these before we upgraded and it served him well.

You need to get a sausage stuffer. The tubes that attach to a grinder just don't get it right. You get to much air going into the cases

I have a LEM #12 grinder, and it's a workhorse.  You probably won't need one that big.  I also have a LEM 5 lb stuffer.  I started with a 10 lb stuffer and it was simply too big. I returned it and got the 5 lb model and it's perfect.

I started out with the Kitchener #12 from Northern Tools and it has worked out great. I think they run around $100. Worked with it for a whole year and while it can stuff sausage, any grinder you use for that purpose is not going to be ideal, especially if you have a real tacky mixture. Not to mention it will be a two person job. About a year later, I got the LEM 5 lb stuffer and it has turned sausage making into a joy. Now, I can do it by myself which Mrs. G is thrilled about, and it easily takes half the time. If you can't afford a stuffer right now, use the grinder as a stuffer, but get that stuffer as soon as you can. You won't regret it.

With several threads active right now wrt sausage-making, I started nosing around on EweTube and found this video:

Northern tool grinder and the LEM 5 pound stuffer is the way to go. I found the stuffer attachment for the kitchen aid to push the meat out too fast. The LEM has a hand crank so it is very easy to control the flow of the meat. Buy a LEM and don't waste your time with the kitchen aid. If anyone wants too buy the kitchen aid attachment I will sell you my old one. Very little use ,,,until I wised up!!!
