Hamilton Beach pizza stone

I know the pampered chef one is notorious for "exploding" in the egg. Anyone used the Hamilton Beach one? This one is only about a quarter inch thick and rated up to 446degrees. I figure it was only $8 so it will probably bust but I am going to give if a go unless there is a good reason I shouldn't ( like damaging my egg).

  • I suppose it could work but if it's only rated to 446 degrees it's not going to be worth much.  I destroyed an old stone I used for the first couple of years that I egged.  Didn't damage the Egg, just broke in five pieces.

  • FWIW I have the pampered chef one, and have used it at least 20 times at 500+.  Hasn't exploded yet.

nice, I have it too but wife won't let me use it on the egg.  how hot do you cook pizza? I plan on about 650 or so.

I don't cook that high because I haven't matured enough yet to make my own dough from scratch.  I learned the hard way that the store-bought ones (typically from Trader Joes) have sugar in them and burn if you go much over 550.

That being said... I did get the stone up over 1000 a few times.  It burns crust very efficiently!
