how cold is too cold for cold smoking?

10 degrees fahrenheit, and i've got 5 lbs of belly ready to go. any thoughts on if it's too cold? planning to use my AMPS set up at on the fire box, with the belly raised up on my grid.

I've been using a lamp with a 100 watt bulb for cold smoking the last couple weeks when the ambient is below freezing. ..that and the AMPS keep the it of the dome between 40-50, degrees.Making the neighbors jealous in Pleasant Hill, Ia one cook at a time...

Well...I was going to use my "bean can" generator (no fire) to smoke some cheese today but at -20 F. I'm going to wait for tomorrow when it is forecast to be +20 F.I do agree, however, that with a fire...It's never too cold.

Ideal temp is between 70 and 90 degrees. The colder it is the less your bacon will take on the smoke. Just smoke longer .Ten or more hours if you canJefferson .GA.Been egging since 1985 on a medium egg
