OooKay! I am late here. Offering my opinion and adding fuel to the fire.

How is what OP did any more wrong than waiting in line to pick stuff off on black Friday? He did not know why they marked it down to 3.99

But, But on the other hand, if informed that there was a serious mistake by someone, an honest American would backtrack and say, Ok can I get a discount at least or some like that. Or pay the sale price. Or say cowboy sucks anyway and hoof it outtaa there all the way to Canada.

I see a lot of democrats here, choosing whats right for the people. ( or is it socialists)

Yu no agree with me, scew yu.

Really now, why drag poor Mr. Yu into this???

Politics has made its debut into this thread... now all we need is a good dose of religion.

I was in Dollar Tree and saw these 3 oz rib eyes for just $1. I went up to the counter and said that they must have priced them wrong, as rib eyes are much more expensive than $1. They insisted that $1 was correct. I took the moral high ground and didn't buy them.

Ok, so if you guys saw a good deal and it was priced wrong you would bring it to the attention of the manager and then you would pay full price?? Yea right!! Not my fault someone screwed up. And I will enjoy my lump.

Don't let the folks get on you. Great deal, and nobody is going to lose their job over that. Do people really think poor lil' old Lowes is too worried about something like that? Get real!!

Not sure why some folks are raining on the OP's parade. If they fired someone every time something was mislabeled, they wouldn't have much of a workforce left. Its not like lowes has six sigma certification.  The dept manager is culpable too, and should be fired as well?

Cowboy seems to have been reborn. I've heard the new version is much better than what it used to be. I think Naked Whiz even did a new review for it.

OP was in the right place, at the right time... with his wallet.

My thoughts also. I use Rockwood because I can find it at Ace hardware in Atlanta when I'm there, not because I'm too "particular". I would use Cowboy if need be, may even experiment with mixing part RO/ part Rockwood, or even part RO/ part Cowboy if my source of Rockwood dried up.........or if I ever fell across a deal like the OP did!

I don't care what the OP did. To each it's own. Right place, right time.

However, when I personally score my "Deal of a lifetime", I hope it's on something a lot better than hardwood lump.

You know, there could be more than one "deal of a lifetime". I, for one, have passed up "deals" in the past, regretted it, and went back to get it, only to find it gone. Strike while the proverbial iron is hot.

I went through one 34 lb. bag and didn't like it at all.....the only lump I would not buy again that I've used.

Disregard question on Stubbs Lump...found a thread dedicated to it. Doesn't sound as though to many eggheads prefer it. I'll just stick to what I have been using as it hasn't let me down yet.

I suspect they can refuse to sell them at the mispriced price.  At least Wal-Mart did when I found Royal Oak at too good a price to be true.  I can't remember the price...but it was so low, I asked at the register "are you sure?"  She looked it up, said it was a mistake, and asked if I still wanted them?  "At which price?"  They let me have 2 bags at the misprice.  Any more, and the rest would be full price.

I've been using Cowboy (from Lowes) because it's the best I can reliably get lately.  It's by no means my favorite...but it lights well and burns hot.  I think it produces more ash than other lumps I've used, but I got tired of Greenwise being bags of shake that won't light, and finding Royal Oak around here is hit or miss.
