Cracked platesetter and cold temperature?

Hi All - Last night I went out to put on a tri-tip. I opened up my cabinet to find my platesetter in 3 pieces. It was 18 degrees yesterday. Any chance the cold temperatures caused this to happen? A bit of previous cracking background: My platesetter fell over this summer and cracked in half (had it leaning against the nest in a moment of stupidity). I successfully put it back together with JB Weld. The 3 cracks that exist now are different than the JB Weld repaired one. Thoughts?

You got any of that JB weld left? I think if my plate setter got destroyed, I would buy the ceramic grill works adjustable rig, with the indirect setup.Cleveland, Ohio

Good addition to the cooking arsenal. I'd still fix the setter if you have any JB left. Another thought is how old is the setter? Talk to your dealer if it was still under warranty, you might just get a new one.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

@tackman I ended up speaking to a CSR at the ceramic grill store (she was AWESOME) and changed my order. I went with the R&B combo along with extender and sliding D combo. I think it suits my needs more than the customer combo, even though it is about $60 more.@skiddymarker I don't think they would take it back given it already had the repaired crack that was a result of me being an idiot. :((Indianapolis, Indiana. You'll love that setup. I have the same one and it never leaves the egg.SBGE December 2012 • XLBGE December 2013 • Yoder YS640 JulyLocation: Jasper, Georgia
