I'd like to hear some thoughts on grilling with a himalayan salt plate.
Do the plates last very long and or they worth the money?

Love mine and great for cooking scallops and shrimp or thin sliced beef. Do find it somewhat hard to clean and doesn't last too long. I think it does a great job though and fun to cook with.Clarendon Hills, IL

I've been playing around with one for the last month.
So far, the best thing on them is scallops and grilled cheese / Panini.
I tried kabob's and burgers on it, didn't like it. But what was good was some small filets......I seared on both sides on the grill, then stood them up on their sides on the salt plate to finish them off.
I've been using it straight over the flame--get it ripping hot. Don't use a sauce, or anything really greasy......it soaks the salt up.
So far it's nothing amazing--but if you want something to play with and impress your guests, get one.

I really love cooking salmon on the salt block. I am on my second one. The first one laid in some water and dissolved. I'm trying to extend the life of the second one by putting some tin foil under it during cooks. I think if you take care of it it will last a long time but need to be careful. Need to store in a dry place.

Anyone have pics of the salt plate? Mother in law works at a dealer and keeps telling me to try it!

Here are some photos the first time I used it......wasn't pleased with the results. The next night with scallops and NO platesetter was much better.
