I just went out to get my egg ready for a smoke on Wednesday and discovered that the felt between the lid and body are frozen together. Any suggestions on how to get it thawed out when the temps will not rise above freezing?

Light a fire in the bottom thru the bottom vent... after a few minutes it should warm enough to open

You can open the bottom draft door and insert a starter cube or oil soaked paper towel and light it. This will start a fire in your lump and thaw out the gasket in no time-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

I just put some thin cardboard pieces in between my dome and base to keep a slight gap there so it doesn't freeze shut! The little gasket I have left probably wont freeze anyhow as its covered in black gunk/grease.Hows ya gettin' on, me ol ****?Kippens.Newfoundland and Labrador. (Canada).

I place HDAF between the dome and base when cold. Seems to work.GeorgePalm Beach Gardens, Fl and Blairsville, Ga.

After you cook and shut the egg down go back an hour later and open the lid . It will still be warm but it will not have had a chance to start sticking yet. Place a small piece of wood or even a screwdriver between the lid and the bottom just so it won't close. Problem sovedJefferson .GA.Been egging since 1985 on a medium egg
