broke in and seasoned to the gills!

The advantage is you may not need any lump, once you get that crud burning and control the airflow, next low and slow is on the house....Has to be the most I've ever seen.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Well-insulated. Probably great for a low and slow.

From a scientific perspective...I wonder if the uneven crud in your lid introduces inefficiencies in the convection process that occurs within the egg. Would seem to me that it would have some type of impact.

Eventually the rack may no longer fit inside all that build-up forcing a clean burn:)

Im serious when I ask,,,,Do I really need to scrap all that off. It has worked like well for all 13 years. What is a clean burn?Jefferson .GA.Been egging since 1985 on a medium egg

Clean burn is just firing it up as hot as she'll go and letting all that "seasoning" burn off.

Got a new gasket today. How many hours should I do this clean burn?Jefferson .GA.Been egging since 1985 on a medium egg

burn it until the fire goes out I would do it after a cook so as not to waste lump just open up bottom vent all the way take off daisy wheel and let it rip2 Large Eggs and a Mini 2 Pit Bulls and a Pork shoulder or butt nearby and 100% SICILIANLong Island N.Y.

A lot of that crud will fuel it's own fire. Make sure you have lump at the top of the firering to start. Maybe do a pizza at the end

And make sure you pull the thermo out. It will be toast otherwise.
