Rubs--try before you buy

I stopped at a local grill store today. Haven't been there for a long time (don't know why, the place is awesome) and I saw this rack of all the rubs they carry, including all the dizzy pig rubs, where you can sniff them out before buying. Genuius. Pretty excited to go back more often now.

Now that is a great idea. You could try a taste too ?

  • Not genius.  Every spice store I know (Penzey's, Savory) has sample bottles for smelling and tasting.  It's standard in the industry.

Not in the bbq industry though? The only place I've been to that had samples of rubs and sauces was The Kansas City Barbecue Store. Don't know why more places don't do this.

This is strictly a bbq/grill store. Never been to a penzey's or savory, so this is the only place I've seen do this.

  • @yzzi That's smart of them to do that.  I was just pointing out that it is a standard practice for spice stores.
