German Oak Table with Slate, Granite and Illumination

Hi group!

Just own an egg (large) for half a year now and love it. So a table had to be built.

The small feet on the left side are so that the wood doesn't rot in the grass and that you can adjust it always to level.

Hope you like it. :-))

Also check out my improvised (but surely also illuminated...) fan/accelerator ;-)))

They run on 12Volt directly. So you can use a battery (car, bike) but I prefer using a small power supply (500mA) because I have a socket nearby. :-)

Nice, very nice. Like the under cabinet light idea and what looks like Euro cabinet height adjusters - The German Engineering community would be proud.

Thanks Skiddymarker, I feel flattered.

'bout the opener: I drink all kinds of tops: Snap tops, Twist off (yes, I acutally like US beer - sometimes....) and crown caps! Just didn't find a nice opener yet that fits the style ot the table ;-)

Home is near Wiesbaden/Frankfurt.

No, there is no real gap. Unfortunately the EGG comes without any feet or stand in Germany and also I couldn't find that table feet (metal) I saw on some photos here in any shop or online store in Germany yet. Would have used it, but on the other hand I have experienced no negative effect of that setting by now. BTW, it's a massive slate tile, not granite. Think it can deal better with the heat.

Ok. Just checking. Around here, these clay pot holders (3 to a set) from Lowes work well in place of the BGE feet. Primo also makes black feet in case those are available in Germany.

Thank you @caliking Hic. I will check again what I can find here. Just for better understanding: Are you concerned about the tile/slate getting damaged from the heat or the EGG itself?

A little of both. Even with thick concrete pavers underneath, folks have found that their wood table charred underneath. With a thick slab of slate, the wood may be protected, but the slab may crack if its too thick and gets too hot.

This may be over-speculation, but an air gap is cheap insurance for a sweet setup like yours!

check out my new eggciting table feature:

The fixed-mounted quick-draw cooking knife holster! ;-)

In the background you can also see the black/green bottle holder. Positioned directly under the bottle opener it also serves as a cap collector (sure it is easily removable for emptying). :-)

Great job, love the star-slot screws. They are not common here, I picked up few boxes of assorted sizes from a building supplies surplus place years ago, IMO they are better than robertsons or philips.

They are hexalobular internal, AKA "Torx"
