Manrakes or Bear Paws for pulling? Which do you prefer.

Hey Guys, I was reading one of Canugghead's posts this morning about some pulled pork and seen his manrakes. First time ive ever seen a set of pulling utensils, and I immediately seen how much use I would get out a set. I know they are going to be very similar, and as cheap as they are you could buy both sets and try them out. I still would like to know which people prefer, and which one holds up better. Look forward to seeing yalls opinion.

I have the Bear claws and love them my only complaint is they are made of plastic I think that after some time they will wear out BGE sells something similar at is made of steel I think that the steel will last a lifetime thats just my .022 Large Eggs and a Mini 2 Pit Bulls and a Pork shoulder or butt nearby and 100% SICILIANLong Island N.Y.

I have the plastic bear claws for several years now, no problems with them wearing out. I also note the bear claws have a dual function--they serve as lifting handles for picking up and moving big pieces of hot slippery meat--butts, turkeys, roasts, hams etc. Just something else to consider.

the BGE tool is called the meat claw and the item # is MCLAWS2 Large Eggs and a Mini 2 Pit Bulls and a Pork shoulder or butt nearby and 100% SICILIANLong Island N.Y.

Bear claws and as said I use them more for lifting large protein from Egg.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Bear Paws - the grip is much better to lift meat off the grill than the rake, well at least for me. They both pull very well.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Time for you to put your Man Panties on and buy Bear Claws. Be glad to spot you the $12.....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
I usually use my fingers, but have been thinking about getting the Bear Claws. Used to use forks, but I pull the meat in a metal pan, and the metal-on-metal screech made my skin crawl.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I have a pair of the BGE meat claws and they work great. Use them for more than just pork. As others have mentioned they're great for picking up large pieces of meat. You can find non-BGE meat claws and save about half the price.

The pork butt I recently made, all I had to do was mash the butt with my palms and pull apart with my fingers.

I've had bear claws for years - just recently after close inspection I saw the very fine tips have developed curls on the ends. I just took a sharp knife and cut the curls off!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

At the risk of being the outcast, I prefer neither. When I smoke a couple of butts and want to make pulled pork, I like to go over all the meat and pull with gloved hands. I make 3 piles, one that I and others will eat, one for the dog, and the other one for the trash can. The trash is all the fat and crap, the dogpile one is the questionable stuff but I know she will love, bark, etc..and the keeper pile is the cream of the crop that I will serve. By using these tools mentioned I'd never be able to separate the 3 which is important to me. Butt, to each is own.Cherry Hill, NJ
