New large Egg, top dome not aligned with bottom

I just got a new large BGE, put it together according to instructions and the official BGE video. However, the top dome sets back off the bottom dome about 1/4 inch. I looked at it from every possible angle and can't see where it is off. Any suggestions on a fix or any way to make adjustments?

I forgot to mention that this is in the front of the Egg, not off anywhere else. Is it possible the bottom has an out of round defect towards the front? Or is this something that would not effect its functioning?

My large is like that as well and I have never been able to get it perfect, even with the bands cocked a bit. I called Egg corporate and they said a little underbite like that is ok. For what it's worth.large and XL BGE in Richmond, VA

My lid is about that much out of alignment too, however it shows on the front and back. Like @vapilotda, I've tried to get it perfect to no avail. Had it for close to a year and a half with no issues at all......good seal, still original gasket.

Another one here with a bit of an underbite. Hasn't had any affect on my cooks as far as I can tell.

Heisenberg did it. Loosen bands, adjust and try again. Mine used to align perfectly but now I'm 1/4" off too. I stopped trying to fix it and just cook.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

My medium is like that also - not really a big problem so I haven't worried about it

Don't sweat 1/4 inch. Won't affect anything.Southern California

Welcome to the club...mines the same way. Not 1/4 but there's a bite.Seattle, WA

Thanks for the comments...the general consensus is to let it ride and get cooking!

Mines the same way, the front has an underbite and the back is even. My top band is pulled together closer than my bottom band. I measured and decided that my dome is smaller than my base. Just make sure you have a good seal.

Mine is off side to side. I have not messed with it (yet).Dave - Austin, TX

I have a slight underbite at the front also.
In three years I haven't noticed any problem.

Thanks, I will not sweat it, it seems that this is a common occurrence...you figure with this much of an investment, the tolerances would be tighter, but if it doesn't affect the performance...who cares

Hey Heisenberg mine was off when I first got it. I didn't notice it until my gasket started getting fried in the area exposed to heat.
I kept adjusting the dome so the gasket was no longer catching too much heat, and it is all good. It is still off a little, but my gasket is ok.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -
My large is a little off but the seal is tight, If it doesn't leak, let it go.BudLarge BGESarasota, Fl.
