Finally built it!!

Built this yesterday out of western red cedar. Now I gotta figure out how to finish it. Any ideas? I want to preserve the red color if possible and avoid the silver grey color.

nice.  Sand it with at least 120 grit and cover everything you can with spar varnish.  2 or 3 coats is best, sanding lightly between coats.  Every couple of years you can sand and add another coat and it'll keep looking like new.

You built that in a single day?!?!?!
  • Yes. Went to Home Depot, got the wood and had it cut free there. Took it home and bolted it together. Jigsawed the egg hole.
