Congrats for you Hap, damn Verlander is up next. I'm an A's fan, but i do like the Tigers.

I think the A's might be up against it...

Can't believe I haven't peeked once on my brisket. Going to try and not look till tomorrow morning. The grate temp is at 243 and fairly steady. The IT is now at 154deg. I'm sure even with all the fat I trimmed off, I've still got at least one stall coming up.

I think this might be my first low and slow since the new base and gasket were installed. Curious to see how this turns out both the food and time.

    Update

Feel asleep. Woke up and the the grate temp is 255 and the IT is showing 171. Still haven't peeked.

Going to bed for a few hours and them we'll see what's up.

Well... Got a work call, so I figured I'd wander down and check the egg. IT was showing 194 but I've been fooled before into pulling it too early. Check a couple of spots with the thermapen and repositioned the maverick probe. Getting there but not quite...

    Have a nice Saturday :)

@hapster-by the time it was over 1 AM (EDT) I was waaaay too far gone to post anything.  Tough to score any runs w/o baserunners.

@skiddymarker-you bring a lot of insights to the forum and I will hold your postings in even higher esteem given you are an A's fan.  Most eggcellent choice-not too many of us on the planet.  Nice they opened the thrid deck and got 48K fans out-need some eggcellent luck tonight!

Brisket is done and currently resting in the off oven in a tightly covered foil pan under a pile of towels...

Couldn't resist a taste though... Not bad

@lousubcap - so true not many of us "geniuses" around. Advantage of being on the west coast, I can get into Monday's game with brunch. First choices include Pirates, Braves and A's. I'm pretty sure I'll soon be like Mickey and not have a dog in this hunt, but there is always hope - It ain't over 'till it's over.

For the record-I do hold a grudge and for a long time.  Never thought much of the Braves especially when they beat up on the Yankees in '57.  Enjoyed Henry Aaron, Eddie Matthews and a few other players so I could deal with the loss.  But somewhere in the equation came America's number one ****-Jane Fonda and since then I would be happy if the Braves had a 0-162 season.

Besides, that friggin chant really pi$$es me off.  Cause and effect???  Have a great day!

@lousubcap - I love the Braves but I cannot stand the sight of Hanoi Jane. I do love the chant, though- especially from the stands. My AL Team is the O's, so I can't stand the Red Sox. I'm cheering for anyone but them. Here's to a great series!

    @pantsypants

They look really good. What did you rub them with?
  • pantsypantspantsypants Posts: 1,191
I used a homemade rub that was pepper heavy with salt and a bit of sugar ,and some other spices The course pepper mixed with the fat really made them delicious

Grilled oysters with Cajun butter and county style pork ribs. Lobster roll wasn't done on the egg, but I grilled one of the tails and it was really nice.
