Quick Tip

I've never found a good way to clean the char off a Le Cruset or a cast iron skillet. Until now. 

Take the butt end of a Bamboo utensil and use the square edge to scrape the crud off. Works like a champ without screwing up your patina.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

  • Course sea salt rubbed around with a paper towel works for me after an initial pass with a Lodge cast iron scraper

    Boiling water in the pan releases all the crud. Wipe out with a dry paper towel, followed by an oiled paper towel.

    works very well in a seasoned pan, easy and fast - that's what gasser side burners are for.....

    Yeah I have some pretty sharp bamboo utensils from using them like that. Clean pan, no scratches. Makes me cringe though every time thinking how people are tortured with bamboo shoots up the fingers.
