    If using a chimney, oiled soaked paper towels instead of newspaper and in 3-4 minutes you are good to go, with no burning newspaper flakes flying around.

    +1 on the Weber chimney.  fast, clean, safe, cheap, and odorless.  I did the oil soaked paper towel once and never again - smelled like old french fry grease for what seemed to be a long time
