Try to find a replacement heat shield. Maybe a CI skillet?

If it was just an arm, you may be able to prop up that side with a tin can on the fire ring.

If possible, wrap the platesetter in foil so that it'll stay together for one more cook. Or,if you have a spare grate, put the grate on top of the fire ring, piece together the platesetter on top of the grate, and use the 2nd grate on top of the platesetter. I hope that makes sense.

Round pizza pan, or aluminum foil. You just need to shade the food from the direct heat of the fire.

Wrap the grid in AF and elevate it up off the fire ring.

you guys are awesome! thanks for the prompt response. I was going to use the pizza stone but found 1 xl plate setter only 10 miles away. Ouch....$119, very unsatisfying purchase. Has anyone had any luck getting them replaced from BGE? I always saw a pin hair crack going through it but never returned it. It literally just had a mild tap when placing some wood in. Cracked right in half. Thanks again all. What a great community we have here.

Our plate setter broke about 3 months after we bought it. They replaced it, no questions asked.

I "think" the plate setter carries a 1 year warranty from purchase date, but it is worth a shot.

I saw this posted once, and wrote it down. The guy said it can be fixed with Omega-600 High Temp. Cement. Good luck.

I know this post is not new but I broke a leg off of a platesetter a while back and cut the other two off with an angle grinder. Makes a perfect indirect piece for the adjustable rig.

I'm really glad you mentioned this. I've been wondering whether I could make my own platesetter-- someone on here made a raised grid with a weber grid and four four inch bolts and washers. I was wondering if I could do that and add a 14" pizza stone??
