CyberDawg,
I use the hook for hanging, not sure if it has any other use
-
CyberDawg,[p]Something to do with the old style hinge.[p]What you really need is a Lawn Ranger ashtool(as well as the rest of his offerings)[p]Regards-Jeff
-
CyberDawg,
You can put the end of it in one of the holes in the bottom grate and lift it out. That is if you need to do that while it is hot.
-
Jeff Hughes,
I think this might be the intent, it is what I use it for.[p]Dennis
-
Me,
It's also useful in case you need to lift a hot grill.[p]Ken

CyberDawg,[p]As was said before, picking up a hot grid/grill/daisy wheel .... BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY it is for hookin' the nads of the SOB that just heisted a bit of Q from your egg when you wasn't looking!!!![p]I won't even tell you what I use on the guy who steals my marquarita!!!!

CyberDawg, the original hinge had a piece of metal rounded into a circle at each hinge. In order to lock your dome open you inserted that into the hole and pulled it forward. Then along came the locking latch and now the spring hinge. HTH
