$37 to PA.  More expensive than the Wegmans RO I've been using, but about what I paid for WGWW, and less than what I've paid for BGE.  $1.08 a pound total.

I'm cheap.  I'm going to have to stick with my royal oak from Wal Mart for $10-13 bucks a bag.

They do. You don't commit until you see it.

Got my shipment today, 5 of 10 boxes I ordered showed up.  Opened one bag in one box and all I saw was chips.  I'm too pissed off right now to look any further.

Just received my 4 boxes.  Fedex beat them up pretty bad.  Opened one bag and poured it out into a flat box to get a look at the contents.  Unlike the Naked Whiz review, no large pieces, about 25% medium, 50% small and 25% chips and dust.  I just loaded my XLs with Rockwood yesterday so I won't be able to review how it performs until mid next week.  I'm guessing that a pallet buy would reduce the amount of small chips and dust due to the fedex shipping.

Sorry. @Tjcoley. Saw yours too late.

Still, looks shaky to me. Dumping substandard lump and then changing the name.

Well, my order arrived this morning.  Opened up one of the bags and pleasantly surprised.  Looked pretty good size wise
    .image
Dumped it out and did a real quick sort.  Thats an iPhone 5 for size perspective.  While there were no huge pieces (Which to me is good), there were a lot of good sized medium pieces, and about 50% usable small.  Not a whole lot of chips or dust.  Overall, a good bag.  We'll see how it burns in the next day or so.

@Tjcoley, looking closely at your 3 pictures with the lump spread out on the white background, it looks like there is a fair amount of not fully carbonized wood.  Is that just the lighting in the pictures (or my monitor)?

It may be the lighting.  The lump looked good, with no rocks or other foreign material.  There were a couple of small pieces that looked not fully carbonized that I trashed before dumping back in the bag. Overall, a good bag.  I'm hoping the others are the same.  With the very small amount of dust, I'd dump and light all of it.

I just moved a pack of 3 boxes (shrink wrapped) and a pack of 2 (shrink wrapped) and it was like picking up rain sticks. I am reserving judgement but at this point I'm pissed off that I just didn't get 200lbs of Ozark Oak shipped for the same price.  I'm disgusted.

Sir, Can we ask you about your other boxes? We are concerned about damaged product and would like to assure you that we maintain high standards of quality control in our packing line which includes sifting (fines) and sorting (sizes). Please give us feedback.
    Aiming2Please!
  • Unless Forestlumps says otherwise, as far as I know, they are moving this product in order to switch to new packaging.  They told me they were going to use slightly larger boxes because they weren't getting a full 20 pounds into the current boxes. (Note that the current boxes say they contain 20 pounds plus/minus 5%).

I received 2 boxes for the review, and I opened 3 of the four bags so far.  All 3 were fine.

Sir, Our assurance is given that we sort sizes  (20/50/30 : Sm/Med/Lg). Law Of Averages dictates that some times we miss our challenge. We sort all small batches to be free of foreign mater and to have no un-carbonized  wood during the same process we attempt to provide the proper size mix. Our packing line is manned by four (4) men and has proven to be  very successful and accurate. We sift all fines less than a 0.5" ; all of this is done by manual labor to assure our consumers that we TRY to deliver the best Hardwood Lump Charcoal.
This is why we box our product. BUT even boxing it, may not protect if enough concerning shipping and handling by third parties.
Any Customer CLAIMS of substandard product will be taken seriously by support@forestlumps.com; for Refunds or Product Replacement please contact us and submit an image. Thank you!
