Monday Night Cook... boneless butt
Options
bonemuse
Posts: 53
My brother-in-law and his wife just welcomed their first child into the world, so they're not sleeping. My sacrifice to the effort? Cooking up a 6.5# butt for them so they will have food to eat... I'm also cooking myself a butt to freeze so that when things get busy soon, I'll still have delicious pork butt to look forward to. I'm trying the Costco boneless two-pack for the first time-- will be interesting to see how it cooks compared to the usual bone-ins.
The vitals:
Wood: Apple chunks
Charcoal : BGE
Temp: 250-275 grate
Rub: Olive oil and Memphis Dust (via Amazing Ribs)
Setup: PSWoo, platesetter, drip pan, raised grid, Maverick ET 73
Drink: Makers and Coke (felt right tonight.)
Listening to: Chicago White Sox postgame. (Sox are horrible this year. So are the Cubs.)
Reading: Currently, this forum. We'll see over the next few hours.
Hopefully the rain will dissipate and I won't have to roll the Egg into the garage. Not holding my breath.
Salud!

Turned out pretty well. Got 4.5 lbs. out of one of them and 3.75 out of the other. (That's around a 40% loss. Need to work on that.) Here's the results:
