I bought a williams bounds set about 10 years ago. They have worked flawlessly from day one and has kept the finish and consistent grind. Not the cheapest but worthit in my book.

Hibby, I think that was an earlier comparison. In the latest, they recommended the Cole & Masonshown here:It's been sitting in my basket for a couple months now, but I already own the winner from two comparisons ago, it works fine and I can't justify the cost for another one (but, there it is in my basket, waiting patiently for multi-glass of wine type night... )_____________

+1 on the Unicorn Magnum. Had one for years.

Not a fan of the cars or the bicycles but the Peugeot pepper mill grinders are my favorite. Got 3 sets in my house.

One of my best buys ever. This thing with fresh batteries will grind up the whole container filled in a minute or 2. Have had mine a year or 2 and no issues. The only real bad reviews are from people that held it over what they were cooking and the steam killed the gears. I bought one for salt also and it works just as good.

Peugeot for me as well.

Could you call on Lady Day, could you call on John Coltrane? -
I use an old coffee grinder simalar to this. It works very good for keeping a smal ramekin full of fresh cracked black!

Seems OXO really does come up with some well thought out products.I cook. I eat. I repeat. Thornville, Ohio -
Minor pet peeve of mine: salt grinders. This is silly. Salt is a rock, a pure homogenous chemical compound. It has no oils/aromatics/volatiles that evaporate over time. To my knowledge, it does not absorb any odors or off-flavors. "Freshly-ground" salt has no advantage, at all.Granted, the sea salt in the salt pig, standing open, next to my stove might get spattered lightly with bacon grease, but I doubt I, or anyone else, could taste it.Use the "Salt Grinder" that came with your set to hold a different kind of pepper; McCormick's markets a "Peppercorn Medley" that has 4 types of peppercorns and a couple other spices mixed in, it's fantastic on eggs! (the chicken kind)Okay, I'll get off my salt block now [/rant]_____________

This guy is a member of a firearms forum that I frequent. He makes BEAUTIFUL peppermills using high quality wood and grinders. His clients include Bobby Flay, Paula Dean, Jacques Pepin & Giada.

Another +1 for Peugeot. I have a large peppermill I use in the Kitchen and a small salt & peppermill set for use at the table. Had them for over 10 years, they are working as well now as they did when they did new.
