I've only done a couple cooks, but the inside of my daisy wheel is getting really sticky & gooey. Is that normal?

    if you want to clean it up, just open it wide open and let the egg go nuclear. Then once it gets good and hot shut the wheel and close the vent on the bottom. That should take care of it for you.

    Put the DFMT (aka Daisy Wheel) inside your BGE when you finish the cook and shut it down.  Builds up the protective coatings as it is cast-iron.  Also give it a shot of canola or Pam every so often to help with the seasoning.
