New owner looking for a rub mix

Hello all from the UK!

After the longest three weeks I have gone through in a while I got home today to find a my new LBGE (and eggcessories) strapped to a pallet in my garage.

Have decided to save the unpacking for tomorrow morning after I pick up a 6lb Butt (or at least a British approximation) from my local farm shop, looking to be prepping it on Saturday ready for my first attempt at pulled pork on Sunday.

Making BBQ sauce tomorrow and although I have some Dizzy Pig rubs on order from the US they haven't arrived yet, so am looking any suggestions on a good rub to make?

Can't wait to get properly stuck into egging!

Try Don Marco's rub. They are all awesome. He is based out of Germany but I noticed they have distribution in the UK. I had it shipped straight from Germany.

Here is one I like to use as a basic bbq rub for pork and chicken
    • 1.5 tsp kosher salt
    • 1.5 tsp dark brown sugar
    • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
    • 1.5 tsp garlic pepper seasoning
    • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
    • 1/4 tsp dried chipotle chile
The garlic pepper seasoning is Tone's from Sam's Club but here is a clone of that seasoning: http://jenpenm.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/garlic-pepper-seasoning/

This does well on butt and ribs.

    Where at in the UK?

Here is a rub I like for pulled pork and brisket, but I usually skip the coffee (plus you're not going to find that specific coffee in the UK):

    • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
    • 3 tbls black pepper
    • 4 tbls kosher salt
    • 3 tbls Central Market Taste of San Antonio coffee grounds, finely ground
    • 1/4 cup sweet paprika
    • 2 tbls garlic powder
    • 1 tbls cayenne powder
    • 1 teaspoon coriander
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
