Grid Extender Too Boku For the Small

I was working on supper on Sunday and I thought I would use my grid extender on my small because that's why I bought it really.  It was too boku and the dome wouldn't close.  I was trying an indirect set up and the grid extender won't work with a woo.  I then tried it with the mostly ignored platesetter and again, it's too boku.

Isn't Full Metal Jacket a great movie?

I know what your thinking.  "Take out the spacer."  I don't have a spacer because my MIL was straightening up in MY garage moving MY eggcessories and in the process lost MY spacer.  I guess it beats last year when I came home from work to discover she was in the middle of organizing our bedroom closet.

Sorry about the detour.  Anyway, I may end up with a swing rack for the small for convenient 2 tier cooking.  Does anyone have the swing rack for the small?  Just curious what you thought about it.

I assume you tried it with the grid from your Mini for the top. That's odd (or maybe mine is odd), without the spacer I was able to close the dome on my Small with that set up on a Woo: Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The problem I noticed was very little space left between the upper grid and dome. At best maybe 2" of space and even less as the dome slopes downward: Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I'm tempted to hack a little off of the extender post.

I used my small cast iron grate on the fire ring w my small SS grate on the the extender and it barely closed. I could throw the stone on the bottom grate (maybe) for and indirect set up.

That is weird.  I'm tempted to make a hacksaw adjustment to the thing, but that will affect how it fits in the XL.  I want to use it on the XL for cooks when you need frequent attention to the bottom rack.  For me, frequent accessing the bottom rack in the AR is kinda a pain in the neck.

I have the same issue. I will still use it on the large but was disappointed about not being able to use it on the small, where cooking real estate is much more valuable.

Kudos to you for squeezing Mother-in-law and "too boku" into my head at the same time.

Given the recent history here, is it racist to "like" this?

What about the happy ending?  It's like a story with no conclusion.

Me love you long time either way, Fred. I'm just quoting the movie, my friend.

EDIT: Sorry, misappropriating quotes from the movie.

  • Are their any issues about using a small piece of copper pipe as a replacement spacer my MIL relocated? I'm thinking about electrolysis or anything that would cause unhealthy side effects.

You'd be fine with copper. It won't be touching the food.

Just look for a 1 inch steel spacer at the hardware store.
