Circle size?

Hi... Got my table build done for my large big green egg which is on a table nest and I have about a half inch separation from the sides of the egg to the table. Is a half inch ok as a gap between sides of egg and the table?

Thanks.

Mine goes between 1/2 to 1 inch.  Made of cypress.  2 years no issue so far.  I'd worry more about whats under the egg.  I have 2" paver and a layer of fire brick plus the old egg feet for air gap.

    1/2" is perfect.

Also does the hinge drop any distance when the dome is opened. I have four inches from gasket to tabletop I hope that's ok?

I just had my egg up to about 400- 550*. My ash rake was between the paver and egg on a table nest and it was ambient temp. And that was up to 2 hrs.

I have my large sitting on the ceramic feet on top of  concrete pavers, with a 1/2 to 1 inch gap around.  This is for just over three years with no hint of problem, including many pizza cooks and two clean burns.   This is a cyprus wood table.
