Grid extender length?

So can somebody please measure the length of the grid extender for me please. I have a lathe and I'm going to attempt to make my own. The round stock seems to be 3/4 inch thick. Top of bottom grate to bottom of top grate is what I'm lookin for

Make the post about 5 inches if it's to long you can always cut it . Better to have it long and size it after than to short and have to start all over . Am a machinist for the cost of the extender and my time to gather the material and make it the 25.00 with shipping included is a deal and not worth my time to make it IMHOLarge Big Green Egg , XL Big Green Egg . BBQ Guru, Weber Kettle, Weber Q grill for road trips.
