funny- I was just thinking about doing this again tonight. I have some sashimi grade ahi burning a hole in my freezer. That thread is funny. I wonder if Little Steven ever figured out what those japanese characters meant..... :-cKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

That sounds like a good dinner in the making. Love tuna steaks, but catching your own must be out of this world for sure.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

It's a long day out of Oregon Inlet. Hope the warm water moves off of VA Beach soon. I just brush with olive oil and sear. The other two here want it well done. I have to leave the dinner table and eat by myself

Tell them it turns poisonous after medium rare. Well done tuna should be against the law.XL,L,SWinston-Salem, NC

HAHA, just cut their portion about 1/2 inch thick and save the rest for you. Cook them all the exact same amount of time...

Freshest Tuna I have ever eaten was when I was station in Japan and we went out deep sea fishing. Boat Captain took our first catch and make sashimi for the crew... its was amazing -- still warm. Since we shared he also shared his fresh squid... things went downhill after that...

Nice catch!!! Hell, this would never see the heat of a match for me, Sushi all the way -
There is a lot of meat on just one 45# tuna. I usually have a total of 5 on my boat and have limited out ( 3 each ) many times so we share with friends and family. It doesn't get any better than when it has never been frozen. I do like Sushi and fix it before I freeze any of the meat.

A 45lb tuna! Good grief. The one yellowfin I caught in Okinawa weighed 11lbs, and when it hit my line, I thought I'd hooked into a whale. I'd love to see a pic of the one you reeled in.

I think the minimum length for yellow fin is 27" from fork to nose. Way too short for us to keepChesapeake, VA

How about a nice Swordfish steak. This is a world record we caught in 1978, 453 pounds, 12'-1", on 50 pound test line.
