How many coats of Spar Varnish on table top?

I am almost done with my table. I have 3 coats on the whole table and 4 on the table top. How many coats should I put on top? I am using hellman's.

I live in Iowa, and yes it will be in direct sunlight.

Three should be enough, you can add a coat every few years!!

Hey strannyoo, just curious did you sand in between applications and how long did you let each coat dry?

I did sand between each coat and I let it dry for 24 hours because we have had a lot of wet weather.
