CI storage

Finished the JD barrel... At least as far as I'm concerned. Used silver self tappers through the metal bands and finally installed two shelves. I changed out the silver screws for black. The band's with the silver screw heads looked like either a Harley Soft Tail Classic or something a dominatrix would stuff you into. Both enjoyable but not suitable for egg storage

The question is would it be ok to store cast iron in the barrel? While rain proof it's not moisture proof.

I really don't need the barrel and might craigslist it. It is kinda cool though. Thanks.

I don't care you you are that's funny!
If it is keeping the rain out, I think it would be fine for CI.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I love it henapple. Really great job. I was actually thinking of getting one for Farther's Day and doing a wet bar setup.

I found barrels in Chattanooga for $150. What should I ask for this?

Start high, always easy to drop the price, very hard to add price on, kinda like woodworking, eh?
Really nice. I have a simple wood frame cupboard where my egg sits, like you say, rainproof but not moisture proof. Granted I live in in a rainforest, but my CI has to be kept inside or used daily, which it isn't. Seems to me in TN you should be OK for CI storage for the summer.

Personal opinion.  If you use your CI skillets and DOs weekly, it should be OK if you keep them oiled.  If not used for an extended period of time, I wouldn't keep them in a damp environment.

Wonder if you could put one of those humidifier sucking cans in the bottom or somewhere.  This is pretty sweet storage option.
