I'm cooking 2 butts tonight and I'm using my digiQ for the first time. How should the daisy wheel be positioned? Closed with petals open? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Closed with petals about 1/4 open will work great. Have the damper on the blower set at half open/closed position. This is a good starting point and you can tweak it to suit yourself from there. You will love the DigiQ.

I keep my vents shut a bit more than that, but thats a good place to start.Flint, Michigan

JUST "what" temperature are you (and your digiQ) trying to maintain?

250
What do you guys do with the fan if its raining out? I got the controller in a ziplock container with holes drilled through for the cords. It just started raining here and I'm getting ready to put the butts on the eggL-BGE | Westminster, MD -
Just turn the fan where the opening is underneith -- no problem!

You might have to experiment a little. For low temp cooks like 250 on my BGE XL with the DigiQ, I put the fan on the narrowest slot and adjust the daisywheel so that it is barley open by a slit. In the beginning I let the dome temp get to about 300 with the bottom vent wide open and the daisywheel open, then start clamping down. For a temp of 350, I open the DigiQ slot to max and the daisywheel lees than halfway open.

I have never adjusted my fan air intake, it stays fully open. Choking it down just reduces the air flow the fan can move, making temperature control slower.

I left the intake open. Seems to be working fine....I set my pit temp to 250 but its reading over 300. Some temp is 250 on the dot. Not sure what's going on. Butt temp is at 176...we're getting close! I just threw some ABTs on too!L-BGE | Westminster, MD

I think you mite be getting heat form around your PS. I run mine through the DW and always hook mine to the egg stem thrmo for a dome temp but run it 25° hotter then what I want the grid to be. Always works great. I run a Cyber Q but that should not make a difference. Also is it windy? Mite have to shut ur fan damper a bit
