It's not to early to start drinking, right? First butts are on!

A little rain isn't going to scare me off. Part of the reason I bought this rig is for cooking in bad weather. While I look forward to seeing what it can do in the dead of winter I'm not in any hurry to get there. I am rocking 2 4 pound boneless Boston Butts. I like the ones w/bones better but this is what SWMBO provided me with. I am also using my Maverick for the first time today. imageimageimage I don't see any reason not to start the day off with a breakfast beer. I almost consider it a safety issue as I would hate to be without liquid near a fire! Enjoy the day. I know I am going to. I also bought 4 tickets to the New England Eggfest yesterday. I am looking forward to that.

I follow your logic just fine. It is just wrong to be outdoor cooking without a refreshing adult beverage! @hokie_smoker, I think that is exactly right. I will definitely have to remember that one!

Good luck with the butts! The Maverick is the best Eggcessory available for low and slow if you ask me. It made the cook process for butts go even smoother for me.

I love doing a low and slow in the rain. However I would put my maverick (thats outside) in a zip lock bag to keep it dry during the cook. That's exactly how I do my butts, with bad Byron's and mustard! Good luck bro!

remember a cold beer is cheaper than a bottled water....light the egg and open the cooler...you will have friends there for both....

House rules for adult supervisory beverages-when lighting the BGE-gotta have a beverage; loading the food to be cooked-same rule. Then as required during the supervisory period to ensure adequate hydration.  That's why I'm not in the turbo cook camp :)
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I have less guilt or shame if I'm drinking a bloody Mary at 7:00 am (well in public) vs my usual drink of choice.

Wow. Cooked until an nternalntemp of 205. This whole deal with the Egg and the Maverick is almost too easy. I am used to chasing temps with the old Kettle. imageimage

Nice finish and good cook. An adult beverage is required when starting the Egg, and at regular intervals through out the cook. Using a timer will help keep you on schedule.

I start my all day cooks with Mimosas then switch to beer at noon. Your results look awesome. I am going to use my AR and Maverick for the first time this weekend, I hope my cook goes as well as yours!
