The lid is very easy to lift. It was much better than I expected. It is a similar design to the XL, with some tweaks (I think)

I almost have to wonder if the opening on top will limit the temp.

Just noticed the much bigger thermometer on the xxl. Wonder if that will be a new egg option.

The egg rarely goes low when the dome is open too long. It always comes back hotter than the original setting

I think the dome shape of the XXL seems better proportioned than the XL.  Also notice that the XL has the extra middle support on the nest, and the XXL does not.

Many people say they have been told the price but no MSRP has been declared by BGE yet! It will be between $1800-$4000 based on the responses  :-)

I think your only option is the platesetter (which I have been told is included)

  • The XXL i could see being used for a business or small meat shop..but it would be a huge liability if it fell on a person(stand broke or bent) it looks like it could kill someone.

  • Here is a comparison of the XXL and the XL egg side by side. It definitely puts the size into perspective.

Clearly I need to visit more. I had no idea an XXL was in the works. I'm in love.  :x

On another note, the XL is hard enough to move as is.... I cannot imagine trying to move the XXL, yikes!
