Red Oak

I have a question, I have a lot of Red Oak scraps from a furniture project.
Will this be ok to use for smoking in my egg? 
Anybody use Red Oak?


  • Red oak is awesome. It's the wood of choice out west for the famed Santa Maria style Tri-tips.

    Thanks, that is what I wanted to hear.  I did not want to ruin some good meat if I could avoid it.

    Works well with red meat. A little strong for fish or chicken but not like mesquite it hickory.
