My New Nest

I am new to the big green egg world and I wanted to build something more useful to keep my egg in and I figured this would be a good start.

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

There are a few Pennsylvania eggheads on here and Ceramic Grill Works (the maker of the Swing Rack) is Pittsburg and Fred's Music and BBQ is in Shillington and they make their own rubs and have all sorts of egg-cessories.

I just answered your other post about some pork options to try out.

Are there some other ceramic feet that he needs? It looks like there are feet on the egg in picture of table with egg in it. I doubt if he even needs those with this table.

I agree- he is cool with the setup.  I think @six_egg was asking because Big Green Egg no longer provides the ceramic feet with new eggs.  I'm sure some dealers still have slightly older models that came with the feet.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

    That looks awesome!

Any details on the exterior?  It looks like a laminate over the wood, just curious.  Thanks!

saw an interesting article on building an outdoor kitchen, using pressure treated lumber to frame, exterior grade plywood, 15# felt, lathe, and facade bricks.

  • How much $$ you have in that table?
    ·
  • yes my friend is a dealer and he gave me the feet to give it an extra inch in height that way i didn't have to put anything else underneath it to get it up higher

I'm not exactly sure how much money i have into my table the fake stone i have on the front and sides is called airstone that i bought from lowes which i have $300 in that and the glue to stick them on and 2 pieces of cement backer board with was about $10 a sheet and i'm not really sure how many 2 x 4's i used i had a bunch laying around along with the tile if i had to guess i probably have $30 in 2x4's and probably $60 or $70 in tile so totaling out to somewhere in the ballpark of  probably about $450 in material

  • oh i forgot i used oak for the doors and then stained it and used varnish over top of it but you have to make sure you use an outdoor varnish

@mactoolman - nice, looks much better with its egg tucked in. really like the work surface.

Just a thought, you might want to move that left front ceramic foot around to the left a bit more, Where it is it will be in the way when you rake ash out (or maybe you vacuum so it doesn't matter)

  • I had just finished it up when i took this picture the first time i went to use it i moved the foot out of the way
