Finally got around to taking the notches out of the mini fire ring so the plate setter fits in better leaving more space. Used the tile cutter attachment for the dremel to cut th efire ring. Decided to test the capacity with a 6.5 pound shoulder. Barely fit and hope the lump lasts.......

Ridin' dirty with no drip pan?

This is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of when wondering about using a drip pan loaded up with sand rather than a PS. No room for a drip pan AND PS, but with the sand it would still work as a heat deflector and the sand could be thrown out for easy clean up.Looks awesome as is though, let us know how it turns out...B_BFinally back in the Badger State!

Nice job! That is pretty cool that you have enough meat for like 15 sammies on a mini.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Cook is going well. Temp got over 350 for a little and it got a nice crust fast so I flipped it and am back down around 300 now. Temp just checked at 160

Great job and great idea, I would love to hear how the burn goes, we do a lot of camping in the summer. How long does the lump on a slow cook last? Would love to get a mini for the river boat and camper.County of Parkland, Alberta, Canada

Here's the results. Final cook time was 7 hours between 300 and 375. Lump made it with a little to spare probably another hour or so but if you look at the first pics I was out of lump so the lump I used I took out of my large so with all fresh lump it may go longer. Results were great...

Great job! What kind of lump did you use? I imagine one of the denser brands to last that long at that temp range.XL, Large, Small, Mini Eggs, Shirley Fabrication 24x36 Patio, Humphrey's Weekender, Karubecue C-60, MAK 1-Star General, Hasty Bake Gourmet, Santa Maria Grill, Webers: 14" WSM, 22.5" OTG, 22.5" Kettle Premium, WGA Charcoal, Summit S-620 NG
